At just 39 years old, Arif has emerged as a symbol of modern leadership. He is the founder and chairman of Preston Trading, a diversified industrial company operating across oil and gas exploration, oilfield services, engineering, and mining. He is also the CEO of ABC Capital in Dubai and one of the founders of The United Kingdom (UK) Group, a group of investors and builders that works to connect business chances between the UK and the UAE.

Arif Patel was born on July 12, 1985, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He grew up witnessing one of the greatest urban transformations in modern history. He often says, “Dubai taught me to dream big.” Arif grew up in a modest, academically focused family and went to Dubai International School. He was always one of the top students there and always showed his early leadership skills.
But it was not just books and grades that motivated him, he always had an interest in how infrastructure worked behind the scenes, like how oil drove economies, how pipelines linked towns, and how energy could change countries.
He went to the University of Central Lancashire to excel his knowledge in his interested field. He was dedicated towards his studies as he knew that only education would shape his future. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Lancashire that was highly technical and useful for business. But he wanted to learn more so he got his Master’s in Petroleum Engineering at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, which is widely seen as one of the best places in Europe to do study on energy issues.
Arif learnt a lot of useful things there, like fluid mechanics, reservoir modelling, and sustainable drilling, which he would need when he started working for a company.
After finishing his education, Arif Patel started to work on making important things that would last and founded Preston Trading in 2011, a company known for technical expertise and entrepreneurial passion.
Within a short span, a small business to offer engineering advice in the oilfield quickly grew into a full-fledged company involved in oil and gas exploration, production, engineering services, and mining. The business set up its offices in Dubai, Preston, and Africa, and it is actively interested in new energy markets.
Arif says, “Our goal was always to build a company that understands both the science of energy and the economics of sustainability.” Under his direction, Preston Trading has changed the way it drills to be better for the environment, put money into carbon offset projects, and taught local workers wherever it does business.
It wasn’t always simple. It was tough to deal with the unstable global oil prices, regulatory hurdles, and activities that crossed borders. Yet, through adaptability and sheer perseverance, Preston Trading survived and thrived. Today, the company is widely recognized not only for its operational efficiency but also for its commitment to ethical sourcing, community development, and climate-conscious technologies.
While associating with Preston Trading, he also showed his interest in co-founding another company. He became the CEO of Dubai-based investment company ABC Capital in 2012. ABC Capital has roots in asset management and venture capital. As CEO of ABC Capital, he turned the company from a small neighbourhood financial services business into a major player in the regional investment market. Arif led the way for the company to grow into private equity, green investing, real estate funds, and fintech.
Arif Patel Dubai is a technophile at heart and has championed digital transformation, enabling ABC Capital to launch intuitive investment platforms and blockchain-backed asset tracking systems. As a result, the company became a forward-thinking player in the rapidly shifting financial world.

After starting two successful businesses on his own, Arif co-founded The United Kingdom (UK) Group, a diversified business initiative aimed at bolstering UK–UAE trade partnerships. The group offers consultancy, logistics, real estate investment, and market access to companies seeking bilateral growth. Through this group, Arif Patel has helped many small and family-run businesses in the UK get access to cash, grow, and sell their goods in the Gulf market. He loves cricket and golf and finds playing sports to be a grounded experience. A lot of the time, he plans charity golf tournaments to help fund projects in the neighbourhood. Arif supports regional artists and cultural preservation efforts, believing that a society without culture is like a company without vision.
His work as a Philanthropist: Arif Patel’s charitable work makes him a changemaker and not just a trader. He has funded scholarships for over 500 students globally, especially in engineering, finance, and healthcare. Many recipients are first-generation college-goers. Through NGO partnerships, Arif’s foundations have helped install water filtration systems in more than 80 rural communities.
His businesses run skill-building workshops to help women in low-income areas learn and provide them entrepreneurial tools and seed funding. Arif has also funded university-led research projects on climate change mitigation, renewable energy, and urban farming.
